I was at a customers house in Tampa FL yesterday to inspect a sneaky type of carpet stain. I often go to customer's homes to inspect carpets and see if there is anything that can be done to restore them before the customer decides to replace them . in this case the customer had a problem where his carpet was covered by an area rug and the carpet had turned taken on a yellow tint. This is caused by a chemical, called BTH, on the back of the area rug that breaks down and off gasses over time. The gas released by the chemical is absorbed by the carpet and changes the color of the carpet to a tan or yellowish tint.
This is unique type of staining that sneaks up on you. Since the carpet is covered the staining is not detected until it has damaged the carpet. The main question is how do you get rid of it? The way to take care of this type to is to prevent it in the first place. There is no carpet stain remove that can remove BTH staining.
At Chem-Dry of Tampa FL we have several tough carpet stain removers but stains that develop slowly over time can be difficult to remove. That's not always the case as in the photos above where a slow leak developed a carpet stain over time. The stain was removed and the carpet was restored. If you have carpet stains and need professional help give Chem-Dry of Tampa a call.
