This video shows a typical dry carpet cleaning method.  In the carpet cleaning industry, this method is called a tank and bonnet cleaning.  It involves pre-spraying a carpet cleaning solution that emulsifies soils and suspends them in liquid.  Then the carpet is buffed with a cotton bonnet on a low-speed buffer to soak up, or extract, the cleaning solution and the suspended soils.
