The simple answer is yes, and you really only need one tool to get it done. A wet dry vacuum is really all you need to remove pet odor from your home. It doesn't need to be a big vacuum or one that has a ton of suction. It just has to be able to suck up pet urine in water. I recommend a wet dry vac that's about 1.5 gallons or larger.
This is how to remove pet odor from your home. First, take the paper filter out of your wet dry vac. Put it back together and suck up the urine spot in the carpet. Next take about half a gallon of room temperature water and pour it where the urine spot was. Wait 30 seconds and vacuum it up with the wet dry vac. Continue to vacuum the area for about 5 minutes to remove as much of the water as possible. Next, take a dry white terry towel. Fold it over and place it on the effected area. Now stand on it for about 3 minutes. Take another dry towel and place over the cleaned area and put a weight on it and leave it there for about 3 hours. Remove the towel and let it air dry.
