More recently manufactured mattresses have synthetic coverings and can be cleaned with great success. Urine deposits on mattresses can stain a mattress if its not cleaned up quickly. If urine is left to dry in a mattress it's a lot more difficult to get out.
This video shows a cleaning recipe that should be fairly safe for synthetic top mattresses, but I do not recommend it for a silk or tempurpedic mattress that could be damaged by the peroxide in this mixture. The other ingredients are not that risky and should not be a problem for most mattresses. Because dish washing soap is one of the components of this mixture I would recommend rinsing the spot with water after cleaning it. Leaving soap in the mattress will attract more dirt and soil to the cleaned area.
