If you have spilled candle wax on your carpet, you have not ruined it. This video shows you how to safely remove candle wax from your carpet. To remove the wax you need to liquefy it for extraction. The only way to do that is to apply enough heat to melt the wax without damaging your carpet fibers. The safest way to melt the wax in your carpet is with steam. At Chem-Dry of Tampa FL we use a steamer that is designed for commercial applications. However, you can use any appliance that generates steam. Be careful if you decide to use an iron they can easily melt your carpet fibers.
Simply place a white towel over the wax and apply steam. After about 30 to 60 seconds the wax should be melted. Do a quick check to see if the wax is still visible. Feel the carpet where the wax spot used to be and see if you can still feel the wax, if it’s still there it will feel like a lump or ball in the carpet. Keep applying steam until the carpet feels soft. Then simply blot up the remaining moisture with a dry towel.
If your are unable to remove the wax in your carpet with this technique call a professional carpet cleaner, like Chem-Dry of Tampa FL. Chem-Dry of Tampa knows how to safely remove wax from carpet, and many other stains too.
